Keep Portland Weird

Im sitting in my heavenly bed, in a hotel where the bell boy knows my first name, where I no longer require ID in the bar (not because of any premature aging), and in a town where the coffee shop knows exactly how I like my Earl Grey. Multiply that by a whole load of special people and you have Portland, Oregon.

Today is my last day in Portland, I suspect for some time. I've been here for a week and Im not sure Im ready for it to end! I was prepared for this trip to be a difficult one, but even that wasn't enough to outweigh one important factor. People.

I came here with a list (yes I know), a list of people that I needed, wanted to spend some time with. Those who I feel closest too, or those who have shown me great support and friendship. As I sat on Flight NW91 en route, the list was pretty concise. That is until I started to walk the corridors of the MH, or as I walked the lunch room in the TWC. Every few minutes someone else, another key player in my life and times in Portland, or at Nike. The list could go on and on.... and then came Thursday. Wow.

At some point in the evening on Thursday (before the break dancing) I took a look around the room, only to realise actually how many great people were all in that small space, even more amazing, most of them friends. Talk about overwhelming!!!

So its Sunday morning, Im going to take a walk downtown, grab an Earl Grey, watch the world go by before I head back to face the reality and the 12 day countdown.

Thank you all for just being who you are, and doing what you do.
Keep Portland Weird!
